Introducing : Taimur Malik

Taimur Malik - Chartered MSCI
Sometimes I sit quietly and just think… How did this all happen? I never thought I
would one day own properties or speak to people about money. Honestly, that was not
the dream when I was younger. Life just moved—step by step. Things happened,
some planned, some not. Like when I cook at home—I don’t really follow recipes.
I add a bit of this, a little of that. Taste, adjust. And somehow, the food turns out okay. Maybe life is like this too.
Now I live in Edinburgh. Even after many years, this city still makes me smile. The old streets, the mountains in the distance… It has a feeling. My two sons, they keep me busy—and grounded. Being their dad, I think, teaches me more than any book or investment ever did. And Yes, I still play badminton (not as fast as before!), and I try to walk as much as I can. Climbing Ben Nevis was a moment I won’t forget—it reminded me how small we are, and how strong we can be.
Work-wise, I’ve spent over 20 years in investment management. People think I must have all the answers—but no, I’m still learning. I’ve invested in property, pensions, and the stock market. Some wins, some mistakes. I’m a Chartered Member of CISI, and these days I focus on long-term rental properties and serviced accommodation.
I also follow something simple I call the 3Ps—Property, Passive Investments, and Progressive Planning. It’s not about fast money. It’s about creating peace. A life where you're not always worried. For me, that’s real financial freedom. And if I can help others feel that too—even a little—then I’m doing something meaningful.
Average Income, Exceptional Wealth : The Roadmap to
Financial Success through 3P Strategy
When I first started thinking about money seriously, I felt a bit lost. So many things out
there—buy property, investing in the stock market, opening a pension… I didn’t know what was right orwhere to start. Maybe you feel that sometimes too?
After some years, I found that keeping it simple is better. I now follow something I call the 3Ps—Property, Passive Investments, and Progressive Planning. It’s not some big expert theory. Just a calm way to grow your money slowly, and hopefully, live with less stress. It’s not fast money. It’s more about feeling safe, having options, and not worrying all the time about the future.
One thing that really changed my thinking was a report by the UK's Office for National
Statistics. It showed many wealthy people don’t only use property. That surprised me. I used to think buying houses was the main path. But real wealth, I saw, comes from balance—mixing the right things together. In this session, I’ll share how these 3Ps work and how you can start your journey too—even if it’s small. You don’t need to be rich or perfect. You just need to begin. Maybe this talk gives you one new idea. Or maybe it opens a door.
