Richard is the founder and director of Clear Idea Finance, a Suffolk-based commercial
finance advisory and brokerage business. Clear Idea helps property investors and developers find the finance they need to fund their next project or refinance existing properties.

Richard has more than 30 years’ experience in banking, finance and property. He began his career in the mid-1990s with Credit Suisse in New York and London, before spending 12 years with Barclays Bank in London and Hong Kong. Richard was a director for 10 years at Barclays Investment Bank.

Richard lived in Hong Kong for 13 years and the Philippines for 3 years, before returning to the UK in 2019. But despite all the globe-trotting, Richard is an East Anglian boy at heart. He grew up in Essex, went to school in Suffolk, and then studied Economics at the University of Cambridge.

Richard is a seasoned property investor himself. His property journey began in 1997 with his first BTL property. Since then, he has invested in and developed more than 30 properties in 5 countries. 

He launched Clear Idea Finance in 2020, with the aim of providing a dedicated service to help property investors and developers across the UK navigate the complex maze of specialist property finance.

As an FCA-authorised and CeMAP-qualified professional, Richard’s mission is to provide
expert help and guidance to investors looking for all types of property finance. Richard will be giving a talk on finance for property investors, sharing insights from his extensive experience in banking, debt finance, and property investment to help investors navigate the financial landscape and maximise their opportunities.
