The discussion is centred around the simple but critical systems and processes that need to be taken when setting up and running a refurb or conversion project on an investment property particularly around CDM health & safety.

Far too many property business owners - investors - do not understand, or worst still, ignore their legal responsibilities when it comes to setting up their refurb & conversion projects. The vast majority are blatantly breaking the law at a very basic level. I am on a mission to educate property professionals to help them stay legal and compliant.

Darren has a background of over 30 years in setting up & running start-ups and SME businesses in various industries - for the past 18 years in the residential construction, commercial property and facilities management sectors managing subcontract teams on numerous multi-million pound projects over the years.

During this period, he has been responsible for most elements of the business lifecycle including sales & marketing, business development, account management, operations, product/system design & specification & finance although a significant part of the roles involved planning, structuring, overseeing teams and delivering the projects themselves.

Darren has been involved in and delivered refurb, renovation & conversion projects since 2007 for himself and for investor clients and has learnt a huge number of lessons on how to streamline refurbs and conversion projects along the way.


In addition to being an investor himself, his passion is working with other property business owners to help them to cut through a lot of the loneliness, overwhelm & procrastination that comes with starting a business and he trains, coaches & mentors people focusing on the nitty gritty detail of the operational side of business as well as how to plan, structure & manage property refurb projects to mitigate risk to both the client and the team on site and to ultimately ensure that projects runs as smoothly as possible while staying totally legal and compliant.
