I started in Estate Agency at the age of 18 and then moved into Financial Services. I started my own mortgage brokerage in 2001 and nearly lost everything in the crash in 2008.
I started in my property career 15 years ago with my first lease option (before I knew that was a strategy). I did my first HMO in 2003, my first commercial conversion in 2008 and did a self build project on my own house in 2014. To this point my property journey was a slow and lonely one as I plodded on doing 1 or 2 properties per year. I did however help and mentor a number of my mortgage clients to build up their property portfolio’s.
In June 2016 I attended the JV training days at Progressive, signed up to the VIP and became a founder member at Nottingham PPN. I had decided that I was going to go for it. I started VIP in September and won VIP newcomer of the year in December. I also did the ESR in December and joined Jamie Madill and the HMO Company to present on the new HMO Pro Intensive Course. Now a year on from starting my amazing journey with Progressive I am launching the Leicester PPN in September.
The JV course was not lost on me and currently I have 6 JV’s going on separate land deals to build flats across the Midlands. We have launched our own Eco-Build system that we are rolling out across the UK on various projects. We are even in talks with a hotel chain to undertake open space development for them.
Being at Progressive I learned that all the strategies that I had done before I could do again on a much scale by doing JV’s with other people. I am just about to close on a lease option for 11 acres of land (I would never have dreamed of going for that before).
Nowadays I proudly tell everyone what I do and I am amazed at how helpful everyone is in the community. Now I am building a future for my family and bringing the kids into the business with me. My son Riess is only 15 and has 3 rent to rent properties already after attending the MSOPI in January and some guidance from me.
I am also the Chief Executive of a charity for Veterans and we are delivering some amazing projects to help homeless and vulnerable veterans to get back on their feet.
