Raymond McLennan is a former corporate solicitor from Scotland who no longer practices law but has many years of experience owning and operating a variety of businesses in the UK and Ireland. He has owned and operated 12 restaurants and at one time employed over 150 people. In addition he has owned and sold 3 hairdressing salons, a Glasgow nightclub and a wine importing business. He co-formed the Copyright Protection Agency in Dublin in 1996 and blogs and tweets regularly on legal and property investment issues. He is trying to finish writing 3 topical business books but his youngest children want him to take them for walks instead.
Raymond is the Regional Manager for Scotland & Ireland for Angels Den, which has over 8,500 registered, FCA Screened high net worth Angel investors on its database and finds funding for SME businesses up to £5m.
After raising over £800k in Angel investment for one of his own property projects in June 2014, Raymond was instrumental in helping create Property Angels Den (PAD) in Sept 2014, which matches High Net Worth Investors with property proposals of all sizes.
Raymond joined the Progressive Property (PP) VIP Group in April 2015 and has attended various PP training courses such as “Property Masterclass” “Finding JV Partners” and “Expert Speaker Revolution” in July 2015.
Recent speaking engagements include New Start Scotland Exhibition, Napier School of Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurial Spark, The Recovery Club, various Chambers of Commerce and speaking at a multitude of business clubs and law firms on topics such as “Creating a Remarkable Business”, “4 Ways to Grow Any Business”, “Survive and Thrive in a Recession” “How to Turn Your Law Firm into a Thriving Business in 6 months or Less”. “The Power of Small” and “Don’t Let a Slow Start Hold You Back”.
Raymond owns 28 properties, many are in Ireland, which are either rented out or are being renovated for sale. He plans to retain his Edinburgh properties.
He is presently converting an Edinburgh West End Victorian building into 4 flats -completion date 16 October 2015 and will be starting on a West End Glasgow Victorian Building on 19 October 2015.
His focus for 2015/2016 is to develop HMO’s and continue with commercial conversions in Edinburgh.
