Fiona has been investing in property for most of her life. Her parents were landlords so she had great exposure to this even as a young child but this doesn’t mean she had it easy by any means, and she truly has lived the underdog story.
Born in Melbourne, Australia she graduated from Melbourne University which would have guaranteed her a fantastic corporate career if she had stayed. Instead she took the road less travelled and spent six years working and living in Gunma-Ken province of Japan working and skiing in both Japan and New Zealand, a truly amazing experience at a rather young age which sowed the seeds for a life less ordinary.
Coming to the UK in 1998 she studied accountancy and worked in the national business analysis team at NTL writing business reports for the board of directors. She decided to take a leap and went out on her own to create her own rental portfolio like she had seen her parents do at a young age starting the journey with very little capital and giving up the security of a job.
Over 15 + years on, lots of mistakes, some awesome deals (including no money down, creative strategies), plenty of luck and hard graft later she has a significant multi million pound portfolio of single buy to lets, 70+ HMO rooms, weekly selfcatering accommodation, 5 commercial buildings even owning a hotel and sports bar. She invests in both the UK and America.
Having started with little capital of her own and with very little help she understands how difficult and frustrating it can be for beginners in the early stages of their career and has had to break through many roadblocks in her journey.
